Short description: Young Pupils start to learn English through on-line & off-line activities, in an interactive way, using creatively the ICT tools.
Age of Pupils: 4-6 years old
Languages: English, German, French, Latvian,Portuguese,Greek

Goals:
For teachers:
To support children’s progress to higher stages, focusing on each child’s language learning as it develops, and following her/his time needs

For pupils:
To know and love the target language through the realization of its importance and the joy of using effectively the ICT tools.

Specifically:
Use keywords & short sentences.
Enjoy rhymes and action songs
Develop listening skills in order to interpret simple instructions.
Learn the names of common objects around them and expand their vocabulary
Enjoy listening to and dramatizing stories


Methodology:

Stage 1 – New to English,
  • we use simple language which is supported by visual materials
  • we expect that the pupil will eventually respond in the target language (English)
  • we provide a wide variety of activities that encourage interaction

Stage,2 –Becoming familiar with English,
  • Single words are combined to communicate ideas.
  • Basic communication and strategies are used in group activities or for simple interaction with other children


Stage 3 – Becoming confident as a user of English,
  • Through different activities, both inside and outside the class, students have opportunities to practice English with adults and other children

Stage 4 – Demonstrate competency as a user of English

  • Pupils feel more confident in verbal exchanges and in collaboration with their schoolmates. Now they are able to explore more complex ideas e.g: a role play


Content:

1rst term ( Sep-Oct-Nov)
Pupils become familiar with English through many creative activities, each partner is free to choose.
( Internet games & videos, action songs, rhymes, simple daily expressions, alphabet/number songs etc).
Partners upload 1or 2 videos presenting simple class actions




2nd term ( Dec- Jan-Feb)
Pupils continue to learn through new activities; they demonstrate their progress to their partners through conversation and learning from their partners via Skype, net meetings, and Google+

We record and upload all the net-meetings on Wiki

3rd term ( Mar-Apr –May)
Pupils improve their English skills creating Internet podcasting, and publishing them on Wiki.
The Greek partner starts a narrating a story of 6 to 7 lines long. Austria, Latvia ,Portugal are follow up on it and France concludes it.
Each partner uploads its own part on Wiki.
Greece: March 15th
Austria: March 30th
Latvia: April 15th
Portugal: April 30th
France: May 15th
The basic character –a puppet- arrives at each school following the progress of the story, and challenging pupils to be more creative.
We make a CD with the integrated story, and we upload it on Wiki as well.
We perform this to the parents and to the local community

Results:
For Pupils..
They will understand that language is something they can explore, play with, and enjoy.
They will increase linguistic and creative abilities while they will improve attention levels.
They will develop and enhance social skills, a critical part of their lives.
They will Improve the understanding of their native language
They will acquire the ability to communicate with people with whom without the knowledge of a common language would not be able to communicate
The process will boost the learners’ self-esteem and will impulse a deeper and broader desire for learning in general

Permission Form

Each pupil’s parent should sign a paper of permission stating that this pupil is allowed to use the Internet and her/his works and her/his picture can be published on it.
